mari & liam

this week we had a 5 hour power outage during a storm, and during that i grabbed a three wick candle and my notebook and wrote the bulk of this story. it's unfinished, but i started writing it as a way to reacquaint myself with my characters i made in 2011 (when i was 10). this focuses on two of my characters, mari and liam, in something i refer to as the witch verse, which is my world i created in response to jk rowling's transphobia back in 2019, and am still working on today. these characters and this world are very near and dear to me, so from the bottom of my heart, enjoy <3 - December 31st 2003 Wednesday 11:17 PM The Circinus family’s New Year’s Eve parties were the stuff of legend, and this year was no exception. The ballroom of their massive house was packed with the who’s who of the magical community. The other seventy-nine constellation families received invitations, though only twenty had members actually show up. Which was, in all honesty, more than Liam expected...

two princes

i fell back into my house of the dragon fixation briefly this week and decided to flesh out the royal family of one of the nations of Tulra, my fantasy world. i really latched on to the generation this story focuses on. also! i vlogged the process of writing this post to help with motivation, and you can watch that  here  if you're interested!  - Tonight, like many nights before, Prince Katrin Oraine, second child of the King Carola Oraine, has snuck out of her bedroom and pushed open the door to the throne room to sit and stare at the garish thing. She's across the room from the throne, slumped against the wall with her knees to her chest. She sits in this exact spot so often that the stone of the castle itself has started to wear into her shape. She is not crying. She was, earlier, but no longer. The tears left shining streaks down her face, but now she is only staring at the chair with a blank expression on her face. She wonders, in the back of her mind, what time it i...

assorted bridgerton snippets

look, I'm as upset as you are that I'm currently hyperfixating on, of all things, netflix's bridgerton. but here we are. and, because of this hyperfixation, I've reignited my love for my favorite character in the show, edwina sharma. I just think she's neat! anyway. I've been doing a lot of typing in my notes app this week about edwina, so here are some of those little snippets. I'm also hopefully gonna be writing a bigger fic about edwina and marina (ship name mawina. and no they have not interacted in canon) in a sci-fi setting but we'll see how far my ADHD can take me. this first section was me getting a grasp on edwina's internal voice, and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. enjoy! - Edwina Sharma was deeply happy for her sister. Kate was rarely selfish, or rather she was never selfish, but rarely did things that would only benefit her. Things like snoozing her alarm to sleep in later, or buying a nice new dress for an event, or pursuing ...

we’re (almost) so back

hello!! my sincerest apologies for not posting last month, life got in the way. because of my time not posting, I’ve been thinking about what I want this blog to, like. be. and because of the life circumstances, I’ve fallen back into my favorite coping mechanism: writing fiction. I had almost forgotten how much I love writing, which is a shame because I’ve been doing it seriously and consistently for…fifteen years, jesus christ. but we’re back! and I have the urge to write again! yippee!!! now, what does this have to do with this blog? everything, in fact. I want to use this blog as a way to post my shorter writing. to encourage myself to do what I call “writing doodles,” which is just writing outside of the context of a larger project, like a novel or a play. I also want to start posting on a consistent schedule. not everything will be writing pieces, some of it will be character development and worldbuilding. and the writing itself won’t just be prose, it’ll also include scripts, pla...

princess & witch

a short bug world story!!! i decided to go with a medieval vibe to really hammer home the game of thrones influence. also, content warnings include terminal illness and death of a sibling. and bugs, obviously. enjoy! - On the sixteenth day of Midburrow in the year 1161, Princess Heve Vespoad, third of her name and third in line for the throne of Vaspest, ventured out of the safe walls of Castle Vavest for the first time on her own. Her destination was the Red Cottage, the home of a witch called Muskit the Bloody Handed, nestled in the forest. Heve’s young sister was sick, and the royal family grew ever more desperate. Heve and the youngest Vespoad were quite close sisters. They were as friendly as sisters could be. Five years apart in age, Heve recalled vaguely when her baby sister was born. The memory was blurry, even through Heve’s strange, compound eyes. But Heve always remembered the feeling of holding Estinger for the first time. She was so small, so fragile. Heve was so scared of...
